5 to Thrive, 5 to Dive – Week 1

Welcome to 5 to Thrive, 5 to Dive! This will be a weekly article where I predict 5 players who will outscore or surprise the consensus rankings from FantasyPros (5 to Thrive) and 5 players who will under-perform their expected weekly ranking (5 to Dive). The following players are my Week 1 selections for 5 to Thrive, 5 to Dive. enjoy yo self

5 to Thrive

Andy Dalton, QB Cincinnati Bengals (Fantasy Pros rank: 12)

The Red Rocket, shit Red Rifle or whatever gets to take on the Colts’ defense in Week 1. If you know anything about football or have at least watched the sport recently, you know Indy isn’t exactly the 85′ Bears. Dalton should be looking for his monster WR and career maker AJ Green early and often. John Ross could be a sneaky play here too.

Royce Freeman, RB Denver Broncos (Fantasy Pros rank: 19)

I know that he’s a mid RB2 this week, but Freeman could be in line for an RB1 performance while he’s out there losing his NFL virginity. The Seattle front 7 doesn’t exactly scare anyone anymore. Bobby Wagner is going to be busy this week. I expect Freeman to have near a 100 yards and a TD. Give me all the Freeman at Mile High this week.

Kerryon Johnson, RB Detroit Lions (Fantasy Pros rank: 37)

Kerry on some Johnson is ranked very low on Fantasy Pros coming in at 37. This is entirely because the fear that the Lions backfield is going to be a committee. But, I don’t think that it’s going to take much time for the Cooter to figure out who is most explosive RB is.

Corey Davis, WR Tennessee Titans (Fantasy Pros rank: 26)

I’m calling for a breakout year from Davis so I better be on him from the beginning of the year. Not literally of course, but I’m gonna ride him this week. Not literally ride, well maybe. Davis is a perfect combo of the speed-size freak that we all love at WR and if Mariota can get him the ball consistently, Davis should feast in Me am e.

Devin Funchess, WR Carolina Panthers (Fantasy Pros rank: 37)

It’s not that I think that Bunches of Funchess is the most talented WR in the world. But his situation is very desirable. He his a huge WR that will go over the middle, and get the shit kicked out of him just to catch the ball for Cam. Cam Cam loves that. And Funchess is going against a weak Cowboys defense? Yeah, i like Funchess this week.

5 to Dive

Russell Wilson, QB Seattle Seahawks (Fantasy Pros rank: 9)

Wilson! Wilson! I think Russ is going to be putting up a pretty disappointing week in Denver. The Broncos’ defense is still very impressive and I’m not exactly sold on Seattle’s O-line. Wilson has the ability to make this call blow up in my face, but I’ll take the risk, even though I love Russ for the rest of the season.

Zeke Elliott, RB Dallas Cowboys (Fantasy Pros rank: 4)

Even with Thomas Davis suspended, the Panthers front seven is still very impressive and solid against the run. Factor that, with the fact that All-Pro center Travis Frederick won’t be playing, I don’t see Zeke eating anything but shit this week. We’ll see.

Saquon Barkley, RB New York Giants (Fantasy Pros rank: 9)

Charles’ distant cousin has a pretty undesirable Week 1 matchup for his debut in the league. While the Giants did improve their O-line this offseason, we still need to see it in action and them having to do that against the Jags’ D isn’t exactly a pretty sight for Barkley’s Week 1 value.

Odell Beckham, WR New York Giants (Fantasy Pros rank: 8)

So yeah, I’m not exactly a big fan of the Giants this week. Beckham is either going to see AJ Bouye or the most confident/douchiest man on the planet, Jalen Ramsey – and those two dudes are some of the best cover corners around. Plus, when Beckham has a tough matchup, he starts acting like a baby-back bitch and I don’t think that’s gonna benefit him in this one.

Allen Robinson, WR Chicago Bears (Fantasy Pros rank: 22)

It’s not that I don’t think that ARob isn’t a good player. When he’s healthy, I think that he’s a top 10 talent in the league. But, we haven’t seen him do it in over a year plus he’s with a new team and his QB is Mitchell the Bitchell Trubisky. Trubisky is going to have to take a big leap forward to make Robinson valuable this week in a matchup at Green Bay that could be a blowout.
